      Have recently purchased a Canon 7D and a 400 Canon lens (combined weight quite heavy!). Previously had a Velbon tripod which could not handle the combination and the head was very difficult to adjust to requirements, with too much "flexing" which was exaggerated on long focal lengths. The Manfrotto head is a quality engineered and innovative item which allows pretty precise positioning. For example, I am now able to fix the camera level precisely, using the Canon levelling system.
