Review by jy on December 6, 2018Lightweight and easy to handle. Only potential problem could be the wire that connects to camera, which cannot be unplugged from the mic, and has no defined stowage location. Since the wire is rather thin it could be compromised. -

As it is a directional mic ambient sound from the side and back are much reduced leaving the sound from your subject clean and crisp. Røde may have just made the iPhone the best minimalist vlogging tool. -

Review by Amazon Customer on November 20, 2010The Rode Video Mic is a very good low cost video mic that produces a good sound quality for the price.
The mic is super cardioid and does pick up nicely - but its got a wider pick up angle than some hyper cardioid mics I've used.
The windsock is totally essential if you are recording outside as the standard one that comes on the mic doesn't do the job well enough on its own.
A decent 9V battery lasts for ages - if you remember to switch it off when you finish recording.
