The microphone mount is made from a type of plastic material called Hytrel and it is lightweight but quite tough to break. I'm using it on my Panasonic AG-AC160AE camera and it seems to isolate any handling vibration perfectly. The only small downside is the bracket which fixes to the camera body using screws supplied.
